Meet the Team – Jonathan Maskell
November 16, 2020
In this week’s edition of Meet the Team, we speak to Jonathan Maskell, our Head of Chasing, to get to know him a bit better.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I don’t consider myself as either – I’m more of a middle of the road pigeon!! I don’t turn to burn the candle at either end, and like to get up in the morning, make a brew and crack on. I always have good intentions to try to get up that bit earlier, but it never seems to happen!
What was your first job?
My first job was as an Office Junior on the Accounts Team at a firm of Insurance Brokers and IFAs in Liverpool. I worked in the impressive India Buildings, and feel my career has come full circle from those days, back to working in Financial Services, with a spell of working in Childcare in between!
What’s the one thing most people don’t know about you?
I played Cricket to a reasonably high standard as a teenager. I started with our local team, Hightown, and was one of two chosen at age 14 for a trial with Merseyside and South West Lancashire. I made it into the team, and we got to the Regional Final, which was played at Old Trafford. I bowled 10 overs in the game, returning economical figures of 0-15. We won by 5 wickets!!
What is your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?
I find it really easy to switch off from work, even with the change this year to working remotely from home. I have always tried not to dwell on things, and finish each day confident that I have tried my best and done a good job.
What’s the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?
I don’t think of any food as weird, and will try anything!! I don’t believe in waste and disregard Use By and Best Before dates – much to the concern of my colleagues in the office!! I like to try different cooking techniques, and at the weekend had a go at broiling some scallops!
